Prof. Daniel Laskin

Prof. Daniel M. Laskin, who is considered to be the father of Oral Surgery, has been at the forefront of its advancement for over 60 years now. An educator par excellence, he served as the program director and developed the residency programs at both the University of Illinois as well as the Cook County Hospital.

An avid researcher into the development of new surgical innovations, he has been a prolific contributor to scientific literature with over 900 publications as well as co-authoring 16 groundbreaking textbooks in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Prof. Laskin is the Honorary Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Maxillofacial Surgery since its inception in 2011 and is constantly involved in its evolution into a world-class journal that has garnered widespread respect in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is the guiding force behind the journal and serves as a mentor to its Editor-in-Chief, Prof. S.M. Balaji.
